Men's Health & Those Whom Identify

At Vancouver Island Naturopathic Clinic Inc., we are proud to offer comprehensive, evidence-informed care for men and those who identify as male, including transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals. Our Naturopathic Doctors provide full-spectrum naturopathic primary care, emphasizing disease prevention, long-term health optimization, and collaborative wellness. We recognize that masculine health needs are multifaceted and unique to each individual, and we tailor your care accordingly—with the goal of supporting your health across every stage of life.

Our approach to men’s and masculine-spectrum care integrates conventional screening tools with holistic therapies, modern diagnostics, and personalized lifestyle interventions. Whether you're seeking support for physical performance, sexual health, hormone balance, or chronic disease prevention, our physicians are here to work with you respectfully and confidentially.

Preventive, Reproductive & Sexual Health

Preventive screening and early intervention are cornerstones of effective health care. Our physicians offer annual physical exams and targeted screening for cardiovascular, metabolic, and reproductive health conditions. This includes reproductive exams such as testicular and prostate evaluations, as well as pelvic exams when clinically appropriate. A trained chaperone is always present for any sensitive exams in accordance with clinic policy and patient safety guidelines.

We address a wide range of concerns including changes in libido, sexual dysfunction, muscle loss, low energy, mood difficulties, cardiovascular and metabolic concerns. We also provide STI screening, sexual health education, and gender-affirming naturopathic support for individuals across the spectrum of sexual and gender identity.

When fertility support is needed, we investigate potential factors affecting sperm quality, hormone balance, nutritional status, and metabolic health. Your Naturopathic Doctor may collaborate with your medical team or fertility clinic, offering complementary strategies to support overall reproductive wellness.

Hormonal & Metabolic Health

Hormonal imbalances, including low testosterone (andropause), cortisol dysregulation, or thyroid dysfunction, can contribute to symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes, weight gain, low libido, muscle loss, and brain fog. We offer thorough assessment and ongoing management using a combination of lifestyle medicine, nutritional strategies, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and, where appropriate, prescription hormone therapies (within scope of practice).

Metabolic health is another key area of focus. Conditions such as insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, elevated cholesterol, and abdominal weight gain are common—and often modifiable. Our physicians use a combination of lab testing, body composition assessment (including Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis or BIA testing), clinical nutrition, and fitness counselling to design individualized care plans aimed at improving metabolic markers and supporting a focus on long-term vitality.

Physical Performance, Aging & Mental Wellness

As part of a whole-person model, we address concerns related to healthy aging, fitness performance, muscle maintenance, and mental wellbeing. Whether you’re recovering from injury, training at a higher level, or simply looking to maintain function and mobility as you age, our care plans are designed with your physical goals in mind.

Diagnostic Tools

Our Naturopathic Physicians use a range of diagnostic tools and treatment options to assess and support your health. To better understand your health status and guide clinical decisions, we may recommend:

  • Comprehensive Laboratory Testing
Including hormone panels, metabolic screening, cardiovascular risk markers (e.g. cholesterol, CRP), blood glucose, thyroid function, nutrient status and many more.

  • Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)
A non-invasive tool that measures body composition, including lean muscle mass, fat mass, cellular hydration, metabolic rate, and phase angle. BIA is often used to monitor progress in weight management, fitness, and metabolic health programs.

  • Physical Examinations
Thorough physical assessments are tailored to your age, risk factors, and presenting concerns.

  • Hormone & Reproductive Health Assessments
Utilizing both serum (blood) and/or urine testing when clinically appropriate to evaluate androgens, cortisol, estrogen, thyroid function, and related biomarkers.

Following assessment and diagnosis, your Naturopathic Doctor may use an integrative treatment plan that combines conventional and natural approaches, including:

  • Nutritional Counselling

  • Targeted Nutraceuticals
