Postpartum Depression
The postpartum period can be a wonderful time for many mothers. It can also present many challenges including learning how to care for a new baby, learning how to breastfeed, healing after labour and delivery, processing any possible birth trauma, caring for siblings, balancing home and work, adapting to a new role as a mother, upkeeping of the home and maintaining a relationship. We are here to help as this is often not an easy process.
Up tp 30% of mothers will experience postpartum anxiety or depression with one or more pregnancies. We are here to help you. We can offer both natural and pharmaceutical treatment options to help address concerns of low mood, anxiety, fear, sleep deprivation, or depression. We can also refer women to local counsellors, postpartum groups, along with many other programs available for mom's in Victoria. We are happy to work with your maternity provider, midwife, public health nurse, psychiatrist and/or counsellor to ensure adequate support. You are not alone.
