Postpartum Depression
The postpartum period can be a wonderful time for many mothers however it can also be a time of difficult transition. Parenthood presents many challenges including learning how to care for a new baby, learning how to breastfeed, adjusting to lack of sleep, healing after labour and delivery, processing the birth experience, caring for siblings, balancing home and work, adapting to a new role, adjusting to a new schedule and keeping up with household chores. You are not alone; we are here to help.
Up to 30% of new parents will experience postpartum anxiety or depression with one or more pregnancies. Our Naturopathic Doctors have worked with postpartum parents for over 20 years and can offer both natural and pharmaceutical treatment options to help address concerns of low mood, anxiety, fear, sleep deprivation, or depression. We also offer breastfeeding counselling for parents experiencing lactation challenges. We often work in collaboration with local counsellors, maternity providers, midwifes, public health nurses, and psychiatrists to ensure adequate care and support.
Wondering if you are suffering from Postpartum depression or anxiety? complete this questionnaire. If your score is 11 or greater, please book an appointment with one of our naturopathic physicians or see your primary health provider. Reduced rates are available for new parents on maternity leave requiring income assistance (proof required).
